  1. Hi HelpfulLockPicker! Thank you for taking the time to unbox and review our new lock pick sets. We appreciate the feedback greatly. We'll use the comments from you and your subscribers to improve on future iterations. In the meantime, we reduced the price of the tri-fold set to $29.98 to match community expectations. Thank you again!

  2. The case is nice it's definitely the best part of the kit, the set it's self looks just like them generic Chinese picks, poor quality and poor pick choice, the "original" price was definitely fake to try lure in buyers

  3. Nice review, and it's good to see that it made a difference in their price. BTW, I see you are featuring LockPickingKid tomorrow. I'm a proud dad. Thank you. He will be logged in next to me and I'll type in whatever he has to say. He's really excited and you're going to make his day (and mine). Thank you very much, HLP.

  4. What I would really, really like to see in a kit is a set of 9 picks consisting of a half diamond, standard hook and deep hook each in 0.025, 0.018 and 0.015

  5. I thought it was an OK set (I liked the case too) but is it as good as other sets around the same price… probably not. Good presentation for a gift and I agree, it’s not a set for advanced pickers 🙂

  6. There's no need for you to reply to this comment, as I know you're busy and I've already made a couple of long ones the other day. I just couldn't resist adding another one because even though my comments may read like I'm trashing this set and maybe even the company, but that isn't my intent. I'm actually rooting for them to show us that their product is superior and worth buying! So here's my latest rationale: It's hard for me to spend that kind of money on something that's made (most likely) in China when I can buy a 25piece Chinese kit on eBay that not only has all of these tools, but two clear acrylic practice locks (one standard padlock and one dual-sided lock,); three flat "Z" bars; one straight tension wrench; one twisted tension wrench; the same picks, but with handles on them, all in a zippered pleather case that holds all of the tools, AND both of the practice locks…all for $16.80 – less than half the price. If you have a magnet, it would be cool if you would check the picks in this kit to see if they're stainless steel or not. If not, as I suspect, I'll have to assume the rest of the quality is the same.

  7. Case seems nice but picks seem junk. No handles either. As a beginner I liked 0.025 thickness as I was heavy handed but very soon with european locks I got to 0.018 or so thickness as the go to.
That large price drop seems like marketing, no way would $123 be reasonable for that. If the case is real leather, it is worth some. I think sites like Peterson or Multipick have those style cases available separately, in true leather. I have several and love them all.

  8. A very fair review not the best set by any means and no tok aiming at mid -professional pickers? Just shows there knowledge of picking I guess and I’m average at picking I’ve never used a ball double ball or half ball two more hook variations would have been better isn’t that z bar for dimple locks that’s what I’d use it for not much good for anything else but that’s just my opinion great honest review 👍🏻👍🏻

  9. Great review and thanks for sharing as it is always good to see new manufacturer's products.
You mentioned they were made from Spring steel but have seen them reviewed elsewhere as 301 Stainless, can you confirm?
I would not buy this set at the price as the Daniu is about half the price and contains many more useful profiles. I do like the case though👍
If a complete beginner were to buy this set it might not give them a real picking experience as it only contains 2 hooks and the Z bars or TOK tensioners look more like dimple style tension bars. A beginner in my opinion has much better and cheaper options out there to explore.
Have a great day my friend👍😀✌️

  10. I agree with that review. A beginner set. I think a thick pick can be helpful but it is not recommend in my opinion to a beginner who will just get frustrated with a thick pick. I find a thick picks works when you have learnt what to feel for and what is false feedback.

  11. I took a little closer look at SubtleDigs to see if I can figure out where they're really coming from, and whether it seems to me if they're really trying to make a positive impact on Locksport and lock picking in general, or if they're just trying to make a fast buck. I figured if I knew more about the company, it might shed some light on what they're offering here.

Unfortunately, there's not enough info on their "About Us" page to really figure them out completely – if I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt, that is. If I'm not giving them that benefit, I think the jury is, and will be out until they've been around for a while and shown the industry some nicely engineered contributions. They say they're a team of two engineers, and according to the bottom of the page, their names are Gerald and Diana, and they claim to "have a history in the military," but they don't mention whether they served, or worked as Civil Service contract engineers. I know it doesn't matter to a lot of people, but having served 20 years in the Air Force, it can possibly go a long way with me. They mention that understanding how things work, and how different materials and construction can make a big difference, and I agree wholeheartedly, but after watching your demo and review of this kit, it's obvious that there's a fairly big lack in their understanding of how lock picking and lock picking tools work.

Finally, it bugs me that one of their last statements is that they are "based" in the USA, and I couldn't find any product on their site that is advertised as "made" in the USA. Let's face it, every piece in that set appears exactly as they do in the Chinese ones you find on EBay, Amazon, Aliexpress, DHGate, and a thousand more…and for more than twice the price. I would LOVE it if they would comment here and blow MY comment out of the water, but I won't hold my breath. I'd really love it if they were G.I.s too. Still, with all that having been said, I still dig their case, which they probably have made custom for them near wherever it is they buy their tools for these sets. If they ever offer it separately like, say, Sparrows offers their cases, I'd grab one so fast it'd make their heads spin!

Thanks again for another great review and demo. Take care.

  12. Subtle Digs? More like dig into my pocket. Great review and great opinion. I’m a beginner and I got the 12 piece kit from BangGoods. I think you reviewed it some time ago. Good set.

  13. Super review, honest, giving good and bad points.

For less money you can get the Southord PXS 14 with a leather case, .025" picks, and handles if you
want them. Also, made in the USA.

  14. I have always thought those Zed bar tentioners were for dimple locks and not used as tok tok tensioners. I have learnt something new today. See that set of picks is worth something.

  15. For the price id rather go for a southord beginner set, this is not a bad set for beginners but due to the tension options not great either.
Great review, spot on with all points.

  16. In your first video on these picks, I'd imagine that they would work just fine (as you now showed), but that price point… There's a lot of sets on eBay for much cheaper. If they would include a better TOK wrench and more hook variation, I could see this as a better deal.
By the way, any chance you'd consider reviewing this guy?: shorturl.at/gkvwB
