Special Thanks to Addie, a friend of our TR family, for volunteering to spray Imri.

An even BIGGER “THANKS” to Imri, for taking this spray so all of you at home can see this.

I have a few “take away” bits of wisdom that I want all of you to take away from this video:

1. Note how quickly Imri closed the distance on Addie. She already had her finger on the trigger (safety off); she sprayed him solidly in the face, and he STILL reached her. If he wanted her purse, he got it. If he wanted to stab her, he stabbed her. If he wanted to pick her up and toss her in the waiting van, she got tossed in the van. Pepper Spray sucks to be sprayed with, but it is not immediately incapacitating like the Taser is.

2. Note how Imri was able to shoot accurately after being sprayed. If you are ever sprayed by pepper spray by someone with criminal or malicious intent, you fight through and you beat that ass. It will feel like the surface of the sun in your eyes. However, the temperature is actually room temperature. You CAN fight through it. You have to reach down deep inside and get mad at the pain. Scream like Imri if it will help you get there. You fight because you and YOUR FAMILY will depend on it.

3. Note how limp the stream was, when Imri sprayed it at the steel target. You get what you pay for. Better Pepper Spray Launchers (like the Kimber) cost more money, but are worth it. Whichever version you buy, like Imri said, BUY TWO of them so you can practice.

4. Note how the aftermath even made me gag and cough. The mist got all over me. You’ll see me deliberately NOT touching my eyes, for fear of making it worse. For my law enforcement guys out there; understand that if you hose a guy down with this stuff; before you toss him in the back of your cruiser, ensure that you have turned the Air Conditioning & fan off on the dash. Best bet: put him in your buddy’s car.

These videos are fun to watch, but I still want you to take the teaching points away also. Knowledge is power. Knowledge can be your best Weapon. Strength & Honor, TR.

  1. Thanks you Imri, for literally taking one for the team. Glad you used the cheaper stuff because that’s all a lot of ordinary people ever bother to carry. I hope folks watching know that in the beginning scenario that Addie would have never stood a chance at that distance if it were a real attack; that was really even too close for realistic gun defense without some sort of hand to hand technique first to create some distance.

  2. It's important to note that pepper spray is not to be used against deadly force nor was it ever intended to be. It was originally designed to prevent dog attacks against postal workers and later adopted in a hotter formula for law enforcement to gain compliance. It works excellent as a self-defense tool and is the most studied and researched self-defense less lethal option in history. That being said, all modern formulas are not the same. Police use 1.3% strength. Bear spray is 2.0%. I have been sprayed many times in training with different formulas as well as having sprayed more suspects than I can count on the job. Anyting .7% or higher will take the fight out of most individuals. I've only had OC spray not be effective one time in 16 years as a police officer.

  3. Never use your index finger use your thumb to depress the button. Thumb has more strength and it’s a gross motor skill vs finger tip. Lady should have sprayed then side stepped out of the way. Two errors reflect from no prior training. The spray must have not got in his eyes (right eye closed?) or be low quality OC because he was able to see too well. Most of those keychain units cannot deliver well enough. Buy a MK 2 or MK 3 size canister. Use your thumb. Spray then side step!

  4. Make sure you push the f$%& out of them so they fall over while they're wiping their eyes for extra time to get away. Stay safe out there friends 💘 (IF ITS SAFE TO DO SO OFC)

  5. Have been gassed several times but never sprayed, brings back memories 😂, how do the two compare? For reference we were gassed in a small brick walled room with no windows and entry and exit doors closed (until we had each sufficiently suffered and were one by one pushed through the exit door)

  6. i would suggest learning some grappling maneuvers aswell or forms of combat like jiu jitsu, nothing major just learning the basics of leverage and how to get out of someone's grasp. Once this guy actually wanted to rob me with pepper spray and even when he basically wet my face i still had enough power to grab him and throw them to the ground cuz i was so angry and i couldve continued to harm him but i wanted to get out of there, and im not even really that tough it was more reactive than anything but i chucked him like a ragdoll so i suggest you train with your spray but also learn how to keep a distance from your attacker and even be fit enough to outrun them, remember also to make lots of noise. I do think its one of the most effective tools to deter an attacker but it takes a second or 2 to really do its work so keep fit, have situational awareness be wise and blend into your surroundings, dont sit or stand around areas that you know you dont have a certain amount of control over i call it red green and yellow zones, red zones are obviously areas that are super dodgy and crime happens often so you stay away from there if possible, green zone is somewhere where you feel safe and you feel most things are under control like your home or an establishment such as a restaurant where there is some form of security before it affects you, yellow zones are just generally places your safety isnt guaranteed but you feel you safe enough to answer a phone call if you clutch your phone very tightly like at a mall or busy area like the beach where someone can still grab your things and run but you be the judge by knowing your environment and learning from others experience, watch youtube videos of pickpockets and other criminals in your area, look at how they operate so you can spot the signs and be prepared for when you have to evade a bad situation

  7. This demonstration underscores how the fundamentals of effective training will not fail you in the event you need them under less than ideal circumstance. Well done, tight shot groups.

  8. Somebody & something is blocking the action during the attack that I am needing to view to learn anything. Please reshoot this video for a clear shot of how product is used by the victim. Maybe camera person needs to move as it's happening, so the important part is included in the video. Thanks.

  9. I’ve been sprayed by “accidental discharge” twice. Once it was my fault, carrying a small can in the back pocket of cargo shorts. A small squirt deployed & felt like a fire ant boring into my ass. The second time was worse. My dumbass buddy had a cheesy OC “spray gun” that discharged in a hotel room. All I remember is standing under the cold shower for 15 minutes while he continued laughing & saying sorry. Point is, just like a firearm or an ASP, carry it in a proper holster or you’re more likely to spray yourself. Lastly if you spray it then grapple you will feel the residual effect for sure.

  10. I think when you are mentally prepared to be sprayed it helps. A person that’s been unexpectedly hosed in the face will be out of the game long enough for the other person to get away or attack you if they are on offense. At any rate if you’re in a fight with someone and you spray them you better be prepared to still fight for at least the next 10-15 seconds before the attacker starts to give in. And last, DUMP THAT ENTIRE CANISTER ON HIM! Consider these things one use only.
