Helpful hint — if you're at a connected settlement, you can drop your junk off at any of them, you don't have to take everything back to the red rocket.
Show No Mercy is the quest that turns the BOS aggressive tp everyone. If you destroy the Institute before you get offered the quest, the BOS doesn't attack the Railroad, and you can end the game with everyone more or less getting along (BUT you won't max affinity with Danse, because they never find out he's a synth, and thus, you never get the blind betrayal quest).
Also, you can build artillery almost anywhere – and the more settlements with artillery, the more places you can reach.
Trashcan Carla stole one of my power armors using her own fusion core. I was able to take it back at night when she was asleep.

Take Strong back, I think lvl 3, it lets you grab all the stuff and then run but it will only drain your ap. You'll be able to fast travel too
